Lola

Spanish Mustang | Born 2010

Lola is a beautiful Spanish Mustang, born in 2010 at the historic Cayuse Ranch in Wyoming. She comes from a special lineage of horses whose ancestry traces back to the Spanish horses brought to the Americas beginning in the 1500s.

The Cayuse Ranch is closely associated with the Brislawn family, who recognized the importance of preserving these increasingly rare horses in the early 20th century. At a time when many of the original Spanish Mustang bloodlines were disappearing, the family dedicated themselves to protecting and preserving the unique characteristics of these hardy, adaptable horses.

Spanish Mustangs are known for their endurance, intelligence, and distinctive physical traits, qualities shaped by generations of survival in the American West. Their ancestors played an important role in the development of the mustang populations we know today.

Today, Lola is part of our sanctuary herd, where she represents a living connection to this remarkable history. Her presence is a reminder that sanctuary isn't just about providing lifelong care for individual horses, but also about honoring the heritage and diversity of the mustangs entrusted to us.
