Little Colorado HMA Mustang | Born 2011

Originally from Wyoming's Little Colorado Herd Management Area, Pancho was born wild in 2011 and gathered from the range that same year. Before finding his way to Great Escape, he participated in several training programs, each with the hope of preparing him for domestic life. Despite those efforts, it became clear that Pancho was better suited to a life with fewer human expectations, and we agreed that sanctuary would be the best place for him.

Unlike some of our horses who have struggled to find their place within an established herd, Pancho seemed to settle in with relatively little fuss. His introduction went smoothly, and it wasn't long before he'd made himself right at home.

One of his earliest connections was with fellow mustang Regal G, and the two quickly developed a close friendship that has continued ever since. Their bond is a wonderful example of how horses form their own relationships and find companionship within the larger herd.

Today, Pancho enjoys life alongside Regal G and his other herd mates, with the freedom to roam and interact on his own terms. His easy transition into sanctuary is a reminder that every horse is different, and sometimes finding the right place to belong comes surprisingly naturally.
