YANKEE

Yankee is a 17-year-old mustang mare with solid all-around Western training. We have ridden her in 4-H, western pleasure, trail, and gymkhana events. She responds well to leg cues, has smooth gaits and a soft mouth, picks up the correct leads, and can be ridden in a snaffle. She trailers, stands well for the farrier and vet, and has extensive trail experience around bikes, cars, strollers, hikers, and other common distractions.

Yankee is not a "whoa" or "go" horse - but prefers a steady, even pace. She is "watchy" and can spook in place or jump a few steps sideways when surprised. She does best with a rider who provides calm, confident direction. She is dominant in a small herd setting and thrives on a strong relationship with her primary rider.

Yankee would do best with an adult or experienced teen who is looking for a forever partner horse. She thrives with a dedicated rider who will be “her person” rather than in a lesson or multi-rider program. An advanced beginner or intermediate rider who is confident would be a good fit. Yankee is less enthusiastic about riding circles in an arena. She is healthy, an easy keeper, and well-suited to a home where she can be enjoyed for trail riding, light arena work, or pleasure riding rather than speed events.

Yankee is 100% sound and healthy, up to date on vaccines, dental, and farrier care. She has strong, barefoot-friendly feet, wears blankets easily, and thrives on timothy hay and minimal grain. Yankee is deeply connected to her rider, knows her name, and will make a wonderful forever partner for someone who wants a mustang mare with heart, personality, and lots of miles left to give. We are only parting with her as my daughter has outgrown her and wants to get into jumping. It is critcally important to us that Yankee goes to a kind, loving, forever home.
